I actually don't expect optimization for the PS4 since processors aren't allowed with multiple memory controllers. It looks like the OS will use 256MB for it's whole life and I doubt games will use it since access times will probably be incredibly shit.

I'm talking about reserved GDDR5-RAM for the OS, the 256 MB DDR3-RAM have nothing to do with it.

Official number please ? (Sony hasn't even disclosed it yet. *rolls eyes*)

So you're *rolling your eyes* at your own claim too? That "it looks like the PS4 will be stuck with only 256MB of RAM for its whole life"?

What else can use it ?

Who knows? But I think you were onto something when you mentioned how Sony hasn't officially disclosed everything yet.

Think of it like this. Sony has probably went back to the "console must strictly do gaming and fuck everything else" route. It's pretty safe to assume that sony probably won't be using that "it can only do everything" slogan anymore LOL. All in all it's pretty safe to assume that sony didn't go for a bloated OS so it might actually only use 256MB for all I know since the ARM processor is used for "background tasks" to which I implied it would handle the OS and other things too where the whole 8GB as well as the APU is dedicated to just being there for performance.
