Like it has been said here in the thread, it's the people that should decide the fate of their own state/region. If they feel that they would do better as an independent state, then they should be allowed to become so.

From what I know of Catalunya, they would fare exceptionally well as an independent state, as they're probably the most self-sufficient region of the entire Iberian peninsula. On the other hand, Spain's economy would suffer a major blow, but that'll be their own fault.
