Nailed it. I gave a rather detailed guess just because I wanted to express how great the game is. :P
Michael-5 said: Someone already said it, but Dragon Quest V? You know, I own every main series Dragon Quest, but have yet to beat one of them? When I get a 3DS XL I'm going to bring up a lot of DS games high high on my list. Kinda ignored the system since the 3D XL released, and moved over to PSP. |
DQV and VI are really good, although VI is massively inferior in every way. I'm not sure what to say about DQIX because I have only started playing it a few weeks ago, and I've never played DQIV.
#47. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (DS)
Dragon Quest V isn't my first Dragon Quest game (that would be DQVIII), but I wasn't sure what to expect. I had some difficulty getting into Dragon Quest VIII and, I suppose, was sick of traditional turn-based gameplay in general at the time. But, I heard some good things about DQV, and decided to give it the series a another chance.
Turns out it was a fantastic idea, because DQV is a remarkable game. The story is charming and heartfelt, the battle system gets an addicting kick in the pants via monster collecting, and the DS-exclusive casino ate more of my time than it reasonably should have. Unlike other DQ games I've played since, DQV's story actually holds up pretty well over the course of the game, without many parts that drag (which was DQVI's biggest problem). And again, it's a beautiful, well-presented story which tugged at my heartstrings well before the game officially opened up.
