#49) Madness: Project Nexus (PC)

Favorite BGM: Salvation Closing

Project Nexus is not really a particularly deep game (as you should expect from a free-to-play Flash game).  The story mode progresses in a completely linear fashion with no branching paths to speak of, and the game (especially in some of the later stages in the arena mode) certainly suffers from some slowdowns, as well as other problems that are pretty unavoidable when trying to make a big game with Flash. But there are still many moments of good fun and immense satisfaction to be found here, and I've often resorted to this game when I've just wanted to tune out for a second and fall into a blissful, almost trance-like state of detachment. Sort of like my little own happy place. But maybe that says more about my mental health than it does about the game, as it is, after all, a game about slaughtering stick figures by the hundreds in a spectacular parade of insanity and blood.
