I'm refereing to the xbox 360 display settings, not videos...... I leave it on 1080 for good measure though but I was going back and forth and it both looked the same.

You must not have a very big television, because that is a 50% there.

That would explain it. Only time you can truly see a difference that small is on PC monitors.

Yeah I did the same thing on my 13.3' macbook screen and the screen maxes out to 800 and I can see the change from 720 to 800.......
