Because Infinity Ward probably felt they could keep the resolution higher and figure out a way to deal with it later. CoD is obviously about multiplayer so that's what most who buy it are going to care about and that also means those people will be online to get the patch for it. I would say that a majority of people will be connected with either console regardless of preferences and only those who have no internet for whatever reason won't be. So the patch will make its way to most owners. It's not ideal. Certainly. However, I feel people are mistakenly believing this has something to do with PS4's hardware. No. This is an optimization issue. To be honest, I'm surprised X1 is not running the game at a higher native resolution. It can't be that demanding. I'm fairly certain that both the resolution of the X1 version and the current framerate issues of the PS4 version are thanks to IW. Not the hardware of either.
