It was confirmed they were hiring and working on a 3DS game, since Monolith expanded into a two-team studio.  One for Wii U, the other for 3DS.  3DS project is probably further out than the Wii U game, though.  We first saw game footage of X ten months ago, and there's been no announcement of what the 3DS game might be yet.  My guess is a modified handheld Xenoblade game.

In that case, the game is most likely for 3DS. By the looks of it a fantasy RPG or something like ni no kuni.
Wouldn`t it be cooler if they brought it to Wii U through the eshop in anticipation for the game? :) No way that would sell out!
