Think about it this way. Let's say you attend some school that isn't too big on sports. There's a few sports they compete in here and there, mostly hosted by their own school, but outside of that, they generally don't compete.
Then, one day, the county comissioner introduces a new sport for all the schools to play. It's called "How many mom jokes can you make within an hour?" As per the course, hardly anyone from your school participates.
That's kind of the feeling now.
