Has average gameplay, but its plot is yet to be surpassed this gen by any similar RPG. Now if you tell me a story isn't relevant to an RPG I wouldn't know what to say to you. Also IGN emphasise time and time again that their review scores are conveyed to nearly everyone in that department so they all agree to it to an extent.

If it has average gameplay, that's a problem. I personally don't want to spend many hours on a game that's just average.

Look, I love Deadly Premonition for the story and dialogue. Yet I totally agree it doesn't deserve a great metacritic score because the gameplay kinda sucks. Maybe you should accept Nier has flaws and it might be for an acquired taste.

lol wut, i'm well aware Nier is flawed, in fact Deadly Premonition was an excellent example. I'm just saying Metacritic just isn't a good system for gauging the quality of a game as they're generally skewed towards the more mainstream titles Another reason is that games that are slammed actually attract more attention than they deserve. Look at Ride to Hell: Retribution. I have 6 mates that bought it simply because of its poor Metacritic score lol.

Nier and Deadly Premonition are games that could have been better. Untapped potential is why they got mixed reviews.

Some mainstream get great scores, some don't. There are also plenty lower budget games that get solid metacritic scores. So your argumnt is false.

Your friends bought Ride to Hell, but are they really enjoying it?

One of them is. He says its the most fun he's had with videogames in the past decade. Go figure. Doubt he'd enjoy Big Rigs though.
