There's a pretty big difference between wanting to ban all guns, and wanting new gun restrictions. When you look at worldwide crime statistics, the countries that have the lowest murder and suicide rates are countries with moderate gun control laws, such as what we see in Europe and Australia. Countries that ban ALL guns also tend to have some of the worst murder and homicide rates, though these are also typically countries with corrupt police forces and governments, so one must be careful when drawing parallels. Regardless, when you look at worldwide crime rates, having absolutely no gun control is anything but common sense.

I would personally encourage everyone to do some research on worldwide crime statistics and draw their own conclusions. This issue is far more complicated then "gun control is bad".
