To be honest I thought the ending made perfect sense.
*SPOILERS*
I mean, they spent all of the second and third game telling us how hopeless it was, how overwhelming the odds were against us. Hell, the whole second game was actually described as a suicide mission. Where the hell did people get this idea that somehow they were going to get their Hollywood happy ending? Even the optimal ending leaves the galaxy pretty much shredded, and Sheppard barely alive - and anyone that expect less wasn't paying attention. The whole point of the series was the futility of the characters actions in the face of such an overwhelming, timeless, intelligent force. Then people turn around and whinge about the futility of their own choices? THAT WAS THE POINT!
End rant

I agree with roughly zero percent of your analysis, and that much only because I try not to use negative numbers. Maybe you played a different series than the rest of us? Yes, that's the only explanation that makes any sense.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as you didn't offer a different one I don't really know how you'd like me to respond
