I think at the end of the day the "problem" is the X1 is arguably maybe only 4-6 times as powerful as 360.
If you double the resolution from 720 to 1080, then you halve that. it's only 2-3 times as powerful at 1080p.
The thing is you maybe need 5X to show a generational difference. So your choice is:
720P with 5X gfx power of 360
1080P with only 2X gfx power of 360
The former will give people a "next gen" difference and the latter wont. So thats why we're seeing so many 720 games.
But I still hope X1 will get better over time and we'll see more 1080 or at least 900P. |
1080p is 2,25x the pixel density... and 60fps is at least 2 times as demanding as 30 fps... so in the end for a Xbone game to run 1080p60fps of a game usually being 720p30fps on Xbox360 they should basically have the same graphics quality (2x2,25=4,5)... and since PS4 isn't that much more powerfull than Xbone (maybe 30% to 50% - if by a long stretch) we could say that when Xbone is better optimized and hit 1080p60fps (not the case because most will preffer more effects) Sony will be there with a little more effects... so Yep... we are pretty much locked on a 720p60fps~1080p30fps for xbox (varying in this limit) and 900p60fps~1080p45/60fps for PS4 when having same effects (and probably in most cases won't be that noticeable).
