My current PC has an Athlon 64-X2 5050e CPU with 45W TDP and an on-board Radeon HD3300 GPU. For my next PC I just need an APU that offer a significant power upgrade from those two, while staying low-pwer consumption AND that its CPU cores taken singularly be at least slightly more powerful than my current ones, so that I won't experience a performance decrease in my oldest games, the ones able to use just one core. Also, I'll want a model that both satisfy these requirements and be at least as powerful as PS4's APU, or slightly more if possible, so that, unlike my current PC with 7th gen games, my next PC will be able to play every 8th gen game, and, doubling RAM amount compared to consoles to play safe, at least able to play them at 8th gen console quality settings.
So I'm quite curious, but not being a power whore, I can reasonably expect I'll be quite happy whatever Sony and AMD will announce.
My tech enthusiast side would have preferred a new generation Cell with many general purpose PowerPC cores, but my practical side is very happy of the benefits MS and Sony 8th gen AMD APUs will bring to entry level PCs, putting quite a compelling, but not too low, limit to minimum requirements.
Now we just need Valve to devise entry level SteamBox specifications based on a similar APU and life for game devs during 8th gen will become a lot easier.

Based on the article at The Verge it looks like they'll be looking at integrated graphics solutions for entry level spec machines but won't say anything concrete until January.

Thanks for the info. Sigh, then I'll have to just enjoy the next revelation for tech love sake and wait longer for the infos I need for my upgrade, but luckily I can be fine with it anyway, as I planned to upgrade later, as my backlog contains enough games that won't have problem with my current PC.
That announcements policy makes sense, after all, as MS and Sony will absorb most of the production before Xmas, due to launch and all the last time restockings they will be able to do if needed. Also both MS and Sony must have asked AMD in their deals to keep their APUs the hottest ones in their segment at least for the launch and Xmas window.
