If the Xbox One is really incapable of doing 1080p and 60fps and this whole issue becomes bigger then it should be, it may be damaging to Microsofts Xbox One. I can definitely see Microsoft sliding a few $$$ under the table to developers to give the PS4 shitty ports.
I remember the whole "Xbox has no GAMEZ argument" and with the magic touch($) of Microsoft they landed one of the top next-gen games. Not trying to go off-topic just giving a analogy, perhaps a poor one at best.
