Dark Souls looks like an upgraded version of Demon's Souls - and it probably is, in many aspects, though a lot of people consider the first game to be superior because of a number of factors mostly analyzed above. I guess that is the case with almost any sequel of a succesful new IP. To my opninion, both games are excellent. You should try them some day.
