I don't believe there's anything to defend here.
My prediction is that there will probably be a lot less debate about the hardware advantages of the PS4 and the XB1 this generation for the simple reason that it takes a fair amount of denial, even this early in the game, to say that there is no difference.
Once reality sets in, this will transition into it makes no difference upon acknowledging the PS4 is a more robust piece of hardware because most people who want an Xbox are going to stand by the platform, whether it's for the TV functions, Kinect or the exclusives.
