There's no reason why they would start believing Chartz numbers now - it's been proven to be inaccurate several times. The notable recent one is 5.5M Pokemon X/Y sales.

Not expecting them too, the distrust and hate towards VGC is too rooted in their community for it just to all of a sudden change.  Plus many of them their don't think Pachter is anygood.  Still, the fact a well known analyst saying the old data is pretty solid and VGC forecasting isn't bad will probably change the mind of a few.

The old data is solid because they are revised as publishers divulge the numbers.

As for the forecasting, it's hit and miss I would say.
