You would have to be blind to not see which is the better bargain here.


That's pretty much how I see it. The 360 was my platform of choice for this past generation. It had all the advantages you cited. I didn't bother with the PS3 initially for several reasons. First off, it cost too damn much. Second, it didn't really have a decent selection of interesting exclusives until like 2008 whereas the 360 had a year's head start to allow it to accumulate more games (e.g., first-party titles like Halo 3, Gears, and Crackdown, and timed third-party exclusives like BioShock and Mass Effect), and XBL was the place to go for online gaming. As someone with no particular loyalty to either Sony or MS, I had no qualms with choosing the 360 over the PS3. It was just the better value at the time. The PS3 did eventually catch up with and in many ways surpass the 360, but it took it several years to do so. By then, I had already invested in the 360's infrastructure.

This time around, the PS4 is to me the better value. For one, it costs less, which is a big deal for someone with a limited gaming budget; that $100 that I save could be used to put towards buying a couple of games. It also has more appealing exclusives. Killzone, Knack, Infamous, DriveClub, and The Order 1886 all interest me more than Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, and Titanfall. The lattermost game is a great concept and it interested me when I first saw it, my interest immediately evaporated when it was annouced that it had no single-player. Halo 5 is the only thing coming in the XBO's first year that I'm interested in. In the longer term, Sony has also shown that the have the ability to offer better first-party support for their systems because, just like Nintendo, they've actually invested heavily in their own in-house efforts. Microsoft on the other hand has chosen to rely on moneyhatting third parties to get most of their exclusives, which is not sustainable. As a result, their first-party efforts are basically limited to Halo, Forza, and Fable. If history repeats itself, by around 2016 or 2017, the XBO will be much like the 360, with exclusives being very few and far between. Also, the PS4 has more indie support as well. Finally, PS+ has shown itself to be just as good if not better than XBL Gold. The Instant Game Collection is awesome, and if I ever decide I'm tired of online gaming and give it up, I can still watch Netflix and Hulu and do all sorts of non-gaming things on the PS4 because Sony isn't locking nearly everything behind a pay wall like MS is. This time around, Sony is offering the better value, and thus I had no qualms switching from Xbox to PlayStation as my primary platform this go around. I care more about my wallet, in making good investments with my limited amount of money, than in going with whatever my friends are getting.

Misinformation is what gonna move people away from X1.

In the past 3 years MS studios put more first party studios together than Sony/Nintendo together. This time around Sony IS moneyhatting for indy support that MS was publishing in a great amount.Just now people care about indy? They didn't just appear in February 2013.

First party games being developed by MS this time around is more than others I believe.

For the gods sake. Netflix and Hulu can be better streamed on PC, I don't pay for Live to watch a limited version of Netflix and Hulu.
