It's kinda debatable. Try a 32xAA 720p image vs 1080p no AA image and you'll see which one has more jaggies(hint: it's not the 720p one). About the blurrier image, it's all about native resolution. If your TV is 720p native, 720p will look cleaner than a 1080p image. If your TV is 1080p, then 1080p will look cleaner than 720p. Unless, of course, we're talking about CRT monitors, since resolution is not fixed on those, any resolution supported will look great.
