Horribly sensationalist article. I could barely read the entire thing. "Doritocracy"? Anything that resorts to ridicule like that, I just can't take seriously. It's a shame they had to go that route instead of a mature analysis.

Personally, as someone to whom the resolution wars don't matter all that, I can completely understand when someone writes an editorial saying--that's right--it doesn't matter all that much.

Also, the attempt to compare entire consoles to PC GPUs, which are dedicated components, was just silliness, especially when the Xbox One has functionality that the PS4 does not. I don't know how much Kinect is worth separately but I'd bet it comes close to that $100 the author keeps talking about, though he never mentions that particular, and very obvious, difference.

If you think that the resolution thing is a deal-breaker, awesome, do what you need to do. However, I'm getting a bit tired of people acting as though it should be a deal-breaker for EVERYONE. News flash--to many, many people, there are far more important factors to consider first.

This is actually a great response. I look at a good looking game and say ok it looks nice but if that gameplay is stale and boring it can make the whole thing ugly. Im not into graphics all that much. Does the game play well? Is it fun? Are the graphics good? That's what I do when I sit down and play my games.
