MS hasn't stopped releasing first party games, except in 2013. 2014 will also have a first party release. Microsoft bought exclusives but most of them ended up on Playstation slightly changed. Ninja Gaiden 2, for example. It was Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on Ps3. Horrible sales in Japan crippled whatever exclusives they could get out of there. Because most exclusive games Ps3 gets from Japan are from second and third parties, that merely put them on their console because it will sell more on it, as simple as that. |
You may say it stoped just in 2013, but there is no denying that from 2010~2011 to today they have a lot less exclusives games than they had at the beggining of the gen... almost like they tough they were good enough and didn't need to give an extra effort... I'm biased against them, starting when they prematurely killed Xbox original, them stealthly removed real support from the Xbox360... from where I see I don't doubt they will have a nice launch and first year of games (for the people that like their kind of game anyway), and I'm not even discussing inferior ports or if the exclusives are less impressive graphically (I'm sure PS will be a little or a lot better on this field)... but when a company do the same 2 times in a row, I suspect they may do it again (lot of 1st parties studios or not).
