MS hasn't stopped releasing first party games, except in 2013. 2014 will also have a first party release. Microsoft bought exclusives but most of them ended up on Playstation slightly changed. Ninja Gaiden 2, for example. It was Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on Ps3.
Horrible sales in Japan crippled whatever exclusives they could get out of there. Because most exclusive games Ps3 gets from Japan are from second and third parties, that merely put them on their console because it will sell more on it, as simple as that.
