Considering Titanfall is using a Gen7 game engine, and was designed with the previous generation in mind, it wouldn't surprise me.
The cloud, or more precisely, off-system computing, isn't nonsense. There was a time, not that long ago, that all computing was off-system computing. Dumb terminals displayed all the work that mainframes did. They didn't do it over gigabit Ethernet, they didn't even do it over 10Mb Ethernet, they did it over 900 Baud modems.
Both AMD and NVidia are working towards off-system graphical computation. NVidia has even demonstrated it with current technology over a range of latency. Is the Xbox 360 capable of doing it, possibly but doubtful. The problem with the terminology of "The Cloud" is it means different things. Other than the fact that Respawn has said they have taken advantage of the Cloud and Titanfall wouldn't be possible without it, offers no real understanding into how they use it. The Cloud, in this case, could just be remote servers used for controlling multiplayer gaming. In that case, the 360 could very easily take advantage of it.
To suggest that it's nonsense is nonsense itself. It isn't. So get off your fucking high-horse and stop thinking within a frickin box! Devices will get smaller and smaller, and Moore's Law is a cliff we're driving to very quickly. If you don't understand what that actually means, then stop talking about the cloud. Because until we develop a consumer level technology that is capable of getting us around the end of Moore's Law we will need off-system computing to continue to advance computing technology. That isn't pessimism, that's reality. Already we have hit the limit on the number of transisters that can be fit on Silicon. We are down to the atom level. By 2020 our capability of producing those circuits will put us on that cliff edge where we will no longer be able to increase our computing power by increasing the number of transisters per square inch. Devices at that point, in order to increase computing power, will have to increase in size. And for the first time in my lifetime, and likely yours, we will see smaller devices becoming less capable over time not more capable.
The only way to bridge that gap is with off-system computation and that my friend comes from the cloud. That nonsense you speak of is your future. Deal with it. Embrace the fact that companies, like AMD, NVidia, and Microsoft are forward thinking and realistic about the computational power of onboard silicon and understand that we are in fact driving toward a cliff and the only way to stear away from it or at least to stay parallel to it is the cloud.
Do you understand what I just said? Do you get why the cloud is not nonsense? Or do you need to drive off a cliff before you realize the necessity of it?
