How can they not even have MP3 support? It doesn't effect me but that is just plain daft!

This is a big step back but seems like MS won't support too.

Incorrect.

The Xbox One supports the PlayTo/DNLA functionality.  Microsoft even demonstrated it when they showed off the features of Windows 8.1.

They also demonstrated Miracast working via the Xbox One.

The Xbox One will support all of the Microsoft standard codecs for video (WMV), as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 (H.264/MP4) video codecs.  In addition it supports Microsoft's standard audio codecs (WMA) as well as MP3.
