They tried crushing Apple. They have used the OS monopoly to strong arm PC manufacturers and crush Linux. And the XBox was their attempt to crush Sony and Nintendo. For smaller competitors, Microsoft simply bought them out. They are also trying to crush Android by forcing royalties on obscure patents. On the other hand, Sony does many joint ventures with their competition (Sharp, Samsung, etc). I am not saying that Sony does no wrong, as both companies try to gain marketshare in their respective industries, but they are a LOT better than Microsoft to their competition.

100% true. Plus, the Windows monopoly crushed the whole home computer market.
