Nowhere did I say anything about Titanfall not being as good without MS money (though, you could certainly make the case for it not being as good without Azure). His post said MS could have taken this money and instead made 2 other games. My reply is that they are both securing titles and making their own games. Also, no, 2 exclusives are not always better than 1. Unless you're playing list warz on the Internets. I'm speaking from a consumer point of view. I want good games. I know Titanfall is going to be good. I don't know if Random Xbone Exclusive 1 or Random Xbone Exclusive 2 are going to be good. Odds are extremely high that no, they won't equal Titanfall. And luckily for Xbone fans, MS is providing them with both Exclusive 1 and 2, plus others, and Titanfall. A win/win, unless you're only playing on PS4 and wanna play Titanfall. In which case you might go buy an Xbone. Companies make these business moves all the time for good reason. |
Sorry, thought we were talking about Titanfall and then you said "would I take 1 sure fire incredible game, or a change of 2 that might no be as good?", stands to reason I'd think you were talking about MS money somehow improving Titanfall. Titanfall was going to come out regardless wasn't it? His post said nothing of the sorts, his post said take that money and make a game (not 2) and then they'll have Titanfall which would be released anyway and another game exclusive to the One and/or 360.
This isn't about 2 exclusives, it's about not wasting money securing an exclusive from a third party, which would happily put their game on as many platforms as they can and with that saved money, make your own game. 2 games, one multiplatform made by EA, one for Xbox only. While the money used to help EA release the game only on MS formats might be a lot, it surely is not enough to warrant enough to also produce 2 extra games. It just has to outweigh the profit EA can make from release it on PS3 and PS4 as well... actually that could be a lot (if it is a Call of Duty beater).
But this is all guesswork isn't it? It might have been a case that Respawn never intended it to go onto PS3/PS4, but with EA involvement, that seems unlikely.
Hmm, pie.
