I'm in the Sony camp, but PS4 having nothing but indies is true. Two retail games and indie, indie, indie. I'm not impressed. I'm not impressed with the Xbox One games either, but atleast the secured some exclusives. It's Microsoft though, so that's understandable. *folds a moneyhat.* The difference between Microsoft securing all those exclusive digital titles, even if they were all on PC, is they were the first console to actually embrace digital only titles. Sony on the PS3 had digital only games here and there, but it wasn't until the two years that they've been pushing for indies because it's become popular. Ever since Sony started pushing for indies, it's been indie this indie that, indie, indie, indie, indie, indie. As much of a Sony fan as I am, it's only one of the issues I have with them as a company. People says that Sony copies and that's party true. If something is really popular Sony takes the idea and goes with it, but when Sony does it, they push the idea like they were there first, like the idea hasn't ever been around, so they force it down our throats and us, their fans, honestly don't give two shits. The thing is. By the time Sony actually gets in to capitalize, no one really even cares anymore. Motion control was done and by the time Sony released the Move, everyone already owned a Wii and tried it out already, and very few people actually cared to purchase it. Sony releases the Vita and acts like they're first with a touch screen console gaming, so most of their first party games throw out forced touch screen controls to try and get us into the touch screen aspect. Now it's the indies that were already played out well before this year and the hype is dying down. |
A lot of what you said is true but..
The indie indie indie thing is not really true. PS4 has 14 retail games releasing this holiday season, not 2. You also have the f2p stuff like Blacklight and Primal Carnage(I believe). Out of all the indie titles, how many are releasing this holiday season? They only have like 7(this is not counting flow, escape plan, flower and soundshapes because they have been available on PS for years)
There are plenty of other games besides indies.
Also a lot of those indies teamed up with Sony to get back at MS supposedly for how MS treated them( I really dont know exactly what happened) Sony had those types of games on ps3 from day 1 so its not like Sony is just acting like they are the 1st people to ever have indies.
Sony does "copy" but so does everybody else.
Its only called "copy" when Sony does it. Anything Sony does do is usually ignored and IMMEDIATELY downplayed.
I also dont remember Sony acting like they were the 1st to do a touch screen
But i do agree somewhat with what you said
