It's not about "well structured" code, it's about what the SPEs can and cannot do. They're not general purpose computing resources.


The SPUs are just ordinary processors (one hardware thread per SPU [2 for the PPU], but of course you can create software threads), the SPEs function as indepent systems. You can run any type of code on them like you would do on other processors. But the data needs to be well structured to get the most out of their potential and the same is true with regard to the 360's Xenon processor.
