Consider PS4 launch is way, way more important than PS Vita from Sony point of view. They're absolutely right about focusing all their force on playstation 4 more than anything else. All of their force should be focused on playstation 4.
Playstation is a strong brand and has always been one, it's a given. With right moves in 2014, they will crush Micro and Nintendo without any doubt. Have you seen how people react at sony getting back to their psx/ps2 policies ? Everyone and their sister are happy to see Playstation back. Even the most creative and well known studio follow them blindly. Nintendo is already dead on the console market with their Wii U. Only micro remains to be crushed properly. It seems almost done, but just on paper for the moment. 2014 will be a tough one, Sony knows it. They have a huge upper hand right know, they're confident. They also bet a lot on it.
You think it's the moment to worry about Ps vita ? I don't think so. Every eyes are oriented tower next gen. Drop all the titles you want on vita, I'm sure no one will care. First, Sony focus on PS4. When the PS4 has wreck havock in ennemies rank, let's say by september 2014, it will be the time. It will be the time to concentrate some of the cash flow they earned from it on getting the ps vita up to the charts.
So far, Sony's financial are pretty limited* (source below). They can't spent money on PS4 and Vita. You've seen how launch consoles situation is very close between Sony and Xbox One. 2 major games from Sony (Knack, Killzone), three major games (Ryse, Dead rising, Forza 5). Every million is crucial as fuck. They can't afford to drop them on something else. Microsoft are not smart, but they're beyond rich. One miss step from Sony, and Microsoft could be back in a second.
Worst is, they're not only fighting against One and microsoft. They're fighting against the odds too. People have less money to spend and it reflects on console sales. Do not forget every next gen console released so far has failed miserably (Ps vita, Wii U) or struggled hard (3DS)...
You love the vita ? Wait at least september 2014. So far Sony position toward vita is comprehensible.
