That question can only be answered by you. Check youtube walkthrough videos of the games already out. Go to Nintendo.com and check the games that are and will be available for the Wii U in the next couple of months. There is plenty of information of the capabilities of the hardware and its operating system. If you like old school gaming the Virtual Console is right there. It is backward compatible with cheap and amazing Wii games, like Mario Galaxy, Metroid series, RPG's and many others. If you are a kind of gamer that like to buy 3 to 4 games monthly you probably don't want to get the Wii U. But if at least 1 game per month is enough for you, then you may have a good choice on the Wii U. If you like realistic graphics, shooters, simulation games and racing, plus simulation fighters, then Wii U is not for you.
In all and all, knowing what the Wii U can and can't do is the best way for you to decide if that is enough or not according to your gaming tastes. I do have things to do, and sometimes it feels i don't want to play any games because I am so focused on debts or the family that I don't feel like gaming. But I go and buy a game, start playing it and then I can not stop playing. Of course it depends on the quality of the game also, but for me Nintendo games just let me take a rest without the melodrama of online multiplayer and frustrated kids yellowing at me like if they want to kill me or something like that. I don't have to deal with all those stuffs if I don't want to. Even though Wii U games have online multiplayers, but the ones I have played I feel the gamers are more respectful. You know that Nintendo games are strong on the couch multiplayer and single player story. The you use the online for games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart, two amazing franchises that seems to be always growing in quality.
It is up you fellow gamer. You are the one playing with power.
