The relaunched version of the second Final Fantasy MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, has already surpassed the 1.5-million-accounts-registered mark, according to Famitsu.

That's a solid figure, though it provides no update on how many of those users areactively playing the game. With the relaunch only having gone live at the end of August, it may be at least several more months before we have a clear sense of whether the game will see any continued success, though early indications -- like digital sales being haltedfor several weeks -- are positive. Whatever the case may be, the launch of thePlayStation 4 version -- which, upon release, PS3 players will be able to upgrade to for free -- should be a boon for Square Enix.

There is plenty that remains in store for the game's future, including the 2.1 update that will introduce player housing, among other things. Players can currently take part in the game's Halloween event, All Saints Wake, which is ongoing through the end of the month.
