Why in heavens hell couldn't he connect to xbl???? Unless he lives in china behind the Great firewall... It's not like xbl is gated and when You cross a boarder it cease to exist... You can connect to any xbl from pretty much anywhere in the world, granted you have an internet connection.... And your country doesn't block you access...
how do I know cause my 360 is connected to the US Xbox live from France right now and not even using a vpn...
and I had friends from non xbl region connecting without a problem... Sure they won't access to geolock content... But every update and free services worldwide will be accessible....
