It is an impressive achievement for Sony, though the real question now lies in whether or not the PS3 will be able to outsell the 360's total sales by the end of this generation.

The only reservation I have is that the 360 has been selling at this price range much longer than the PS3 has so it only makes sense that the people willing to spend $300-400 ($275-$375 if you want to split hairs) on a console is reaching the saturation point for the 360 while the PS3 has just starting tapping this at $400-500. If the PS3 can sell as many units as the 360 has and still maintain these sales then it will indeed be a true victory.

You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.
