That's not really accurate. Vociferous and loyal fans were the ONLY reason the PS3 didn't cease to exist. Do you remember the first 18 months of the PS3's life? It was the most expensive. It's biggest early titles were mostly delayed for long periods (i.e. GT5, KZ2) or terrible disappointments (i.e. Lair, Haze). All Multiplats were superior on the 360, and PSN was a pale shadow of Xbox Live. While the 360 had more early adopters, the fact that literally EVERY gamer didn't go 360 first was due solely to Sony's loyal fanbase. Sony more than made up that ground as the generation continued - no question. But let's face it, if the PS4 hadn't been riding a wave of loyalty, it would have been left adrift. |
Yet it had Blu Ray (ba FAR the cheapest), free online, and games like Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and the freaking MGS4. PSN was nothing to write home about but the online play worked pretty well. And multiplat difference wasnt anything too major. Dont pretend like PS3 had no appeal at all during Nov 06-Jun0 08
