I actually currently view the Vita as the portable equivalent of the Dreamcast, going head to head with the PS1 (now 3DS). There are so many similarities (including Jet Set Radio!!!)
However, SEGA had no choice but to give up on the Dreamcast. The 32X and Saturn blew out all Sega's money. Sony have the resources to keep fighting on at least so long as they don't give up on the system. I'm still constantly seeing new Vita owners all seemingly perfectly happy/pleasantly surprised with their purchase.
It's funny seeing the threads where it's "I got a cheap Vita, but I'm worried by the lack of games... what do you recommend?" to get flooded with 30+ game recommendations.
RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
