Picked up a PS1 in '99 (yes it was like 5 years old, but it was the first game console I bought with my own money, I was 10) and it was mainly a Final Fantasy machine for me, because after the awesome Final Fantasy III (VI) on SNES I wasn't about to miss out on 7-9 and what became my favorite game of all time: Final Fantasy Tactics.
Didn't buy a PS2 during the 6th gen (but I also didn't have a GCN or XBOX, kinda sat out of consoles that gen) and only recently bought a PS3 (earlier this year) and picked up a PS2 at a yardsale this summer mainly to play Final Fantasy 10-13 and a few other third part games.
I must admit that PS1 boot did bring back some memories, I'm gonna have to get on rebuilding my PS1 collection.
I'm reserving judgement on the PS4, it took Sony about 5 years to convince me that the PS3 was worth getting after I got back into console gaming and they have a ways to go with the PS4 but they're moving in the right direction.
