Each new assassin's creed pretty much overshadow its precessor. Even if angry gamers won't admit because of early bugs and the butthurt that follow, Assassin's creed 3 was better than 2.

Connor was, and still is, the best animated character of the generation.
Ships fight were just that great.
Building were less tall, wich means less annoying to climb...

All it done poor is the bow auto aim and some minor thing here and there.

I don't think the assassin's creed serie should be ported too. Assassin's creed 4 is a great replacement in itself and will probably overshadow the 3, which overshadow the 2 ans so on...

One thing I find interesting about games is how unlike books or film one person can experience something very differently.

It is possible my copy of AC3 happened to be a lemon of sorts, but the game I experienced was a broken unplayable mess.  The glitches were so numerous and game crashing that I never even got to Connor.  We're talking someone who play the four prior console releases to completion and did most of the side stuff.  I love the series, but 3 had nothing engaging about it in character, story or setting for me to try again and again to put up with characters falling into the ground, getting caught on geometry, locking up, skipping animations, or dying at random.

I do wish it had not been that way, but for me the series died on my fifteenth attempt to complete a broken mission that simply would not register when I got to a check point (I watched someone do it online, my copy simply would not register).  It really is a shame, but I cannot agree with your assessment based on my experience.
