I decided to turn this thread into a will the NBA Live series succeed or fail since the original thread was answered so quickly and pretty much brought to an end right away with great answers.
Do you think EA can build a fanbase and pull consumers away from NBA 2K next generation or do you think they will end up pulling out of NBA sports games again? I'm not talking about right away because they obviously won't sell that many copies this year due to low install base. I'm talking about the next few years.
original OP...
They got their ass kicked by NBA 2K and eventually stopped making NBA Live games (tis a shame EA couldn't buy the rights like NFL so it didn't have to compete...). I don't really give a shit about sports games anymore but I just wanted to know why did EA choose to release it just on PS4 and Xbox One which will have very low install base?
The next NBA 2K is already out and I believe most people that want a NBA game will buy the 2K sports game (because 2K obviously makes better NBA games and it is out now). I believe EA is setting itself up for failure and will probably cancel the Live series again after another year or two. Is it me or is EA completly stupid for just launching it on PS4 and Xbox One? If they were smart they would have launched a PS3 and 360 version right now then perhaps a PS4 and Xbox One version later. They seemed to set themselves up for failure like a shitty Wii U launch port.
