"In a recent survey by Angus Reid Public Opinion, it seems the answer to this scientific — or religious — question is not quite settled. According to the findings, 61 per cent of Canadians and 69 per cent of Britons think human beings evolved from simpler life forms, while just 30 per cent of Americans agree."

This is from 2012 and shows how very different the US is from other English speaking countries. This has to be the fault of the education system in the US. To not accept evolution is wilful ignorance, there simply is no debate in the scientific community on the issue. If you are ever in my neck of the woods I can direct you to the fourth floor of the natural sciences library which contains nothing but evidence of evolution even though it is not complete it has over a century of documented evidence for evolution. The other side has a single book written in the bronze age, by a collection of authors, most of its adherents have not even read the entire book, and even fewer have any idea of the context in which it was written.

One side presents evidence and the other holds its hands to its ears trying to drown out anything that might disagree with the one book that they take as their central authority in life, that they can't even be bothered to read.
