I prefer it. It's as close to a decent Mario Kart game as you're ever going to get on a console without a Nintendo logo. I grew up with SEGA though so I get all gooey over the nostalgia in the game. It plays identically to the PS3/360 versions of the game and unlike Mario Kart 7, the different vehicle transformations completely change how the game plays. When you're an aircraft, you have full free movement anywhere on the map for example.
It's just a shame it keeps the same dirty cheating AI Mario Kart has on higher difficulties, only it's even worse meaning it's one Kart racer I'll never be completing on the highest difficulty. :(
