The Wii shined so bright earlier in the gen though. It won't even pass the original Playstation.

Indeed. I remember when people thought it might even pass the PS2. It's like some forgot how it used to perform.

It succeeded in all ways. Nintendo did not say it was going to be out for 10 years! yet, it make more money than the other with such a poop hardware for its time. Nintendo lost money on the last year the Wii was out, mostly because of the 3DS. The other two has been out for 7 years, but they just turned profit in the last three years. In everyway it is a shame that the other two consoles are stil catching up. Oh, also remember that it didn't have the support and third party library that the other two had. You just mentioned it was ashame that it was the first one to go, well what can we say about the other two?

You're looking at it from a share window, which isn't the point of this topic at all. Longevity should be priority, in addition to making money. The 360 and PS3 outlasted the Wii. What's that say? They had better support. The Wii will be remembered for a lot of good, but standing the test of time will not be one of those things.

So, depending on your perspective, the "shame" card can be spun in any direction.

look, i have no more than good things to both system selling 160 million units, the most in any generation. But making a thread about this when the Wii is 20 millions ahead doesn't look right at all. The Wii stands the test of time with its games, no hardware does that. Ask the NES and SNES why people still play on them. It won't be because of the home screen or apps for sure!
