You are right but it's pretty much made on the same die and plus I don't see why they should do a titan ultra since the nvidia maxwell will be coming in less than 6 months likely.

To keep ahead of AMD, it makes complete sense. Plus it hurts nothing, given that, as you said, it's on the same die. On the other hand, that is irrelevant since they're not chasing a new crowd with the Ultra. 

Also, rumor has it the Maxwell GPU release has shifted to Q3 2014 at the earliest (which is smart, since Intel plans to release Haswell-E then).

I don't know how credible that rumor is.
