I think the open-world sci-fi game is what Stig Asmussen has been directing since God of War III (2010). That game must be very far into development by now, I bet we'll see it at the VGA's this year with a fall 2014 release.
I think that people are looking too much into "like home on an alien planet with a nitrogen atmosphere" quote from Cory Barlog, he also mentioned a game about a love-struck poo and dreaming grass in the same interview. I reckon he's been tasked with reinvigorating the God of War series, not a reboot but the biggest step evolutionarily that the single player has taken between installments.
I doubt the studio would work on 2 new IPs, one of them must be a new GoW and since a new GoW just came out this year it's highly unlikely that Stig Asmussen has been working on GoW4 for PS4 at the same time they were making GoW:A for PS3 (although possible I guess). I'd put my money on Cory Barlog directing GoW4 and it being freaking huge.
