You make one of the most valuable points in this thread. It's not that you can't do some of what Kinect 2.0 offers some other way. It's that you can now do it very simply. You already have a tv set and the game system hooked up to it. Now you can do these other things and it doesn't require any special work to do them.
It's about simplifying a lot of things:
- If you want to change the channel you just say it. No need to find the remote.
- If you want to call someone(skype), you just say it. No need to go grab a tablet or turn on your PC/Laptop.
- If you want to call in computer generated support or grab a weapon or tool from your belt/pack in a game, you just say " I need back up" or "equip X".
- If you want to play a bluray, you just say it.
That's not even including any of the obvious motion things that can be done.
