I don't have an allegiance to neither of them. For CPU, my previous PCs to current are Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64, to Intel Core i3. All have been good. My laptop is AMD (CPU and GPU).
For GPU I have only purchased 2 cards, both Nvidia (GT430 and GTX550Ti). I have not experienced any issues with drivers and my 550Ti has been great for the games I've played. I have it OC now and I will be upgrading soon.
AMD and Nvidia are both great, but if Id have to pick one today I'd go with AMD simply for price/performance ratio.
