If anything, I found compatability with old games to be the same or better under Windows 8.
For example an old gem called Dungeon Keeper 2 always crashed on my tablet when running Windows 7, yet nary of an issue under Windows 8.
Intel's drivers probably have a big part to play in that too though, they're not exactly known for having the best graphics drivers.
