If it's really faster AND the old UI can be restored when not using touch devices, then the only question remaining is its compatibility with older SW and peripherals. When I'll upgrade my PC, I'll decide according to the answers to these questions. But basically, using Windows almost only as a gaming console, and doing all the rest with Linux, I won't have many reasons to drop Windows 7. With my last upgrade I had to drop XP due to some HW incompatibilities (that it hadn't with the previous HW, while previously I had to drop Win 2000 only due to its extended support expiring, otherwise I'd have skipped not only Vista, but XP too). Well surely, unless I delay its purchase, I'll find Win 8.1 on my next laptop, but as I have personally assembled all my desktops except the first, I'm the absolute ruler of every HW and SW that go in them.
