Wait, what happened to the guy they showed at the end of the last season? I'm confused.

Is he just for the special, then?

You mean mega star John Hurt ;) - thats just a special where he is the Doctor... a bit like the old Two Doctors/Five Doctors episodes from way back.

I'm glad they have gone for an older guy, hopefully we can get back to the more serious Ecclestone episodes. I liked Matt Smith, but its all got a little too teenagey.

He isnt really the Doctor. At least not according to the Doctor himself. His name is a promise and he is the one that broke that promise.

My guess is he is the one who trapped the Time Lords and everyone else in the time bubble or something similar.

There is an episode where someone points to a portion of space and mentions an entire galaxy is gone. I am trying to catch up on all the old episodes now but if that isnt the galaxy that contains Gallifrey and the story isnt about the end of the time war, then maybe its about that.

We still have a bit of a gap between 8 and 9 that needs to be answered. The special may show him becoming the 9th doctor, or rather the 10th doctor because up until this season we didnt know of Hurts doctor so that changes the order of them, unless they play on the bit that he while being one of his regenerations is not one of the doctors.

We also still have the Doctors daughter out there and I would like to see them conclude her story in some way.

Got my girl into it so we are rewatching all the episodes to get her caught up on the show before the new season starts. Been catching things that make more sense now and some things that are still unanswered. Hope they put all the pieces together
