For example, I think TF2 does the F2P model brilliantly. Yes, it is a little slow grinding weapons, but that's what you pay for - if you can wait (like I did), you don't spend a penny. And all the weapons are side-grades that change your playstyle, rather than being "upgrades". Heck, I found Deathmatch Village on Vita more than playable as a F2P game. Could've been better, but considering I didn't spend a penny on it, I got a lot of enjoyment out of it. And don't get me wrong - I'd rather pay for the full game and get the whole package myself - but F2P is seeming like an increasingly adopted business model as time moves on, so it may be something we have to get used to. Better to support the versions of F2P that do it well where you end up spending very little/a reasonable amount, rather than the ones which nickel-and-dime you. |
I just ignore everything that's F2P and don't even get into the different systems of payment. I just don't like it and don't support it. The only F2P game I've played was World of Tanks and I really love it (would be cool if it hit PS3), but I started playing it in the beta, so I didn't even realise it was going to be a F2P game when I started playing it, got into a clan and stuff :P Still, when I think that they charge more for a single Premium tank than the price of a new retail game, it makes me sick and question why I play this game.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
