I'm not a fan, but Pokemon has always been about multiple versions with different monsters. A social game where you and your friends got together and traded monsters that you couldn't get on your copy of the game.
It wouldn't be the same if they just threw the game on consoles and took away the social aspect of the game. I'm aware that there was the N64 game Pokemon Stadium, and it kind of proves my point. I don't know anyone who was a Pokemon fan that used that other than a novelty game.
